3-bedroom shared house, Aldridge Place

One air con room to rent with own kitchen, lounge/dining room and front porch in classic tropical Darwin ground level house, louvered throughout, in Millner (a few streets behind Rapid Creek shops/markets). Property gets daily cool breeze from the sea along the Rapid Creek basin.

House has large Indonesian gazebo – thatched entertaining/living area with second kitchen/fridge, 8 foot pool/snooker table,sofas and smart TV with sound system overlooking the swimming pool. Also has second, outside bathroom under large pandanus trees.

To share with Scott, a quietly gay 59 year old music educator (NT Dept of Ed) and long time Darwin/Arnhemland resident, and a couple of friends (one is my partner) from out of town that come and go. I also have a daughter who will occasionally visit from Brisbane with her husband and new baby and stay for a few days

Room is $250 single/$320 double plus negotiated shared power and internet costs (3rd per room? )

I essentially cook and live out in the gazebo, outside kitchen and bathroom (with my bedroom inside), leaving you the tenant(s) the inside lounge, front porch, kitchen, dining area and bathroom essentially to yourselves. The tenant is welcome to use the back outside areas incl screened outside bathroom also if they wish (the gazebo is especially good for entertaining and comfy cool for reading etc with thatch, sofas and fans) and the cool (shaded) pool and various garden sitting areas equally shared by all.

I will sometimes negotiate using the lounge room sometimes to play and maintain the harpsichord (C17th copy keyboard musical instrument that I rebuilt myself) that is kept there (I also have a piano in my bedroom).

The place lends itself to providing for two nicely connected but independent households. Friendly, helpful independence works really well here I reckon.
